Questions

Food Service — frequently asked

Is solid surface NSF certified for food service?

Corian® solid surface is listed to NSF/ANSI 51 for food-zone use in commercial foodservice.

Is Corian® food-safe?

It is non-porous, so it does not absorb liquids, and it can be cleaned with ordinary foodservice cleaners; its NSF/ANSI 51 listing covers food-contact use.

Can solid surface be used near heat lamps and hot wells?

Yes, with the manufacturer’s fabrication details for heat sources — reinforced seams and clearances. Hot pans should not be placed directly on the surface.

Solid surface or stainless for a servery?

Stainless suits cooking lines; solid surface suits front-of-house serveries, where a seamless, warm, repairable surface in a chosen color matters.

How are scratches repaired?

Minor wear is sanded out on site; the color runs through the full thickness.
